Head collar or regular collar: how the Canny Collar is different

A regular collar goes around the neck and the lead clips to it. The Canny Collar is a padded head collar from The Canny Company in Black Rock, Victoria. According to the maker, it works differently:

Regular collar Canny Collar
Where it sits Around the neck Around the neck, plus a soft noseband over the muzzle
Where the lead clips Under or beside the neck Behind the head, to both D-rings
Open mouth Yes With the lead loose, the dog can open its mouth to pant and drink (maker's description)
Off-lead Stays on Noseband comes off the muzzle and clips under the chin
Everyday wear Yes Walks and training only, not as an everyday collar (maker's guidance)

Sizing (neck measured just behind the ears): Size 1 23–28 cm · 2 28–33 · 3 33–38 · 4 38–43 · 5 43–48 · 6 48–53 · 7 53–58. It sits higher and more snugly than a regular collar; between sizes, the maker recommends the smaller one.

Before you choose: if your dog pulls, the RSPCA suggests trying loose-lead training and a front-attach harness first. Our harness guide compares the options we stock.
