How to choose a wool felt cat cave bed

A cat cave is an enclosed bed with a single opening. This guide covers the practical points to check before you order one: size, material, shape, care, and delivery. Everything below about our caves comes from the brand's own product information.

1. Check the size

All three Kipnook cat caves are made by Namaste Artisans (Epping, Victoria) to the same approximate measurements, per the manufacturer: outer diameter 50–52 cm, height 30–32 cm (plus the ears or stem on the shaped models), opening 20–22 cm, weight 700–800 g. Each piece is hand-felted, so measurements are approximate. Measure the spot where the cave will sit, and compare the outer diameter and the opening with your cat before you order.

2. Look at the material

The caves are 100% wool felt, hand-felted (manufacturer's description). Felt is a dense, matted wool fabric rather than a knitted or stuffed one.

3. Pick a shape

• Grey Tabby wool cat cave: a wide dome with two sculpted ears, heathered grey-brown with dark charcoal tabby-style stripes.
• Mouse-shaped wool cat cave: heathered grey, with round mouse ears, black button eyes, a white felt nose and hand-stitched whiskers.
• Woodland Acorn wool cat cave: an acorn shape with a heathered grey body, dark square spot detail, a cream felted cap and a tall pointed stem.

Prices are on each product page.

4. Plan the care

Manufacturer's care information: spot clean gently with a damp cloth and mild wool-safe soap. Do not machine wash, bleach, soak or tumble dry. Reshape by hand while damp and air dry fully in a shaded, ventilated area.

5. Expect small differences

Each cave is handmade, so stripe placement, ear shape, size, colour and finish vary slightly from the photo. Colours may also look slightly different on your screen.

6. Delivery and returns

Caves are sent directly by the brand, usually dispatched within 1–2 business days. The brand estimates about 4–6 business days to Perth and the rest of WA after dispatch. The delivery cost is shown at checkout, before you pay.

Namaste Artisans accepts returns within 14 days of delivery if the cave is unused and in its original packaging. Return postage is paid by the buyer unless the item is faulty (see our Refund Policy). This doesn't affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law if an item is faulty.
